         Meeting of the Working Group on Information Technologies and Communications of the Russian-Cuban Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economy, Research and Technology CooperationThe second meeting of the Working Group on Information Technologies and Communications of the Russian-Cuban Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economy, Research and Technology Cooperation took place on January 22, 2009. The meeting of the Working Group was opened by Mr. I.O. Schegolev, RF Minister of Telecommunications and Mass Communications, and the Chairman of the Cuban part of the Working Group – Mr. A. Rodrigez Arufi, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications of the Republic of Cuba responsible for international cooperation. There were also other participants present at the meeting: Deputy RF Minister of Telecommunications and Mass Communications (Chairman of the Russian part of the Working Group) - Mr. D.S. Severov; Director of the Department for International Cooperation of the RF Mincomsvyazi - Mr. T.V. Arkhangelskiy; Director of the Department for Digital TV and Application of New Technologies in Mass Communications Facilities of the RF Mincomsvyazi - Mr. V.P. Stytsko; Director of the Department of Public Policy in the field of communications of the RF Mincomsvyazi – Mr. V.A. Taranov; Director of the Department for Scientific, Technological and Strategic Development of the communications industry of the RF Mincomsvyazi - Mr. O.V. Chutov; Head of the Federal Agency on Information Technologies – Mr. V.G. Matyukhin and other executives and experts of communications enterprises. In his welcoming address Minister Schegolev emphasized the development of the Russian-Cuban dialogue in the field of telecommunications. He stressed that “mutually beneficial bilateral contacts are one of the most promising lines of activity in the whole development array of Russian-Cuban interaction”. The work resulted in signing several documents. NIIR FSUE Director General V.V. Butenko and Mr. A. Rodrigez Arufi, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications of the Republic of Cuba responsible for international cooperation, signed the Agreement on Cooperation between NIIR FSUE and the Ministry of Information and Communications of the Republic of Cuba, in which they agreed on technical cooperation and technological assistance in relevant areas of development of communications, TV and radio broadcasting facilities. In addition there were signed the following documents: the Memorandum on Cooperation between MTUCI and the Coordination Center for Shaping and Developing Human Resources of the Ministry of Information and Communications of the Republic of Cuba; also the MOU on Cooperation in the field of control and management of the radio frequency use between the Agency on Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Information and Communications of the Republic of Cuba and the RF Federal Service for Supervision in the Field of Telecommunications and Mass Communications. |
