On 25 April 2008 NIIR FSUE held a gala opening ceremony for the first in East Europe Sun Microsystems Competence Center in high-performance computing.The opening ceremony of Sun Microsystems Competence Center in high-performance computing (HPC) and the press conference dedicated to the event were attended by Mr. S.A. Malyanov, Deputy Director, Federal Communications Agency; Mr. V.V. Butenko, Director General, NIIR FSUE; Mr. I.A. Trifalenkov, Business Development Director, “Infosystems Jet” Company; and Mr. Phillip Trautman, Business Development Director for the sector of State Institutions, Education and Research, Sun Microsystems Company. Mr. S.A. Malyanov, Deputy Director, Federal Communications Agency, noted the historic significance of the event – the Sun Microsystems Competence Center in high-performance computing opened in NIIR is the only one of the kind in East Europe and the first one in Russia. NIIR FSUE is a unique research center, which on the one hand is experienced in developing applications for HPC systems, and on the other – has good knowledge of the special features of providing services in the field of ICT. The opening of the Competence Center will permit the following: • To promote HPC technologies; • To develop software operating on the basis of HPC systems; • To develop distributed computing systems; • To organize networking with integrators and developers operating in the field of high performance systems and networks.     |
